![]() Important notice : On March 2 nd, the Quebec government updated its directives to forbid all public institutions subject to the Act respecting the Governance and Management of the Information Resources of Public Bodies and Government Enterprises, including McGill, from posting any new content to TikTok for any purposes, including advertising campaigns, announcements and recruitment. ![]() The government of Quebec’s directive follows the government of Canada’s decision to ban the use of TikTok on mobile devices issued to members of the federal public service due to cybersecurity concerns. The directive applies to all public institutions subject to the Act respecting the Governance and Management of the Information Resources of Public Bodies and Government Enterprises, which includes McGill and several other universities in Quebec. This requirement is in accordance with a directive issued by the government of Quebec on February 27, 2023. If you currently have TikTok installed on your McGill mobile device, you must remove it immediately. Effective immediately, please be advised that the application TikTok must not be installed on any mobile device (i.e., mobile phone or tablet) that has been provided to you by the University, or on any mobile device for which McGill covers the cost of the mobile service.
